Hey Skye! Just came across this piece, thank you for the insights. Speaking of the podcasting magazines though, there’s another imprint magazine about podcasting coming soon—Good Tape. Have you heard of it? What do you think of it if you have? I’d be interested to learn your opinion on that in this newsletter (not affiliated with that magazine:)
It’s a shame that podcasting community doesn’t have (or has too few) outlets dedicated to podcasts, all really interesting stuff is covered in newsletters like yours haha
Sorry for the late reply — YES, I'm aware of Good Tape. Dane reached out to me and filled me in on his plans before he announced it but I haven't spoken to him since. Thanks for the nudge; I'll reach out again and see how it's all coming together!
Steve is a great guy with a lot of natural charisma and charm. He gave me a $100 to buy my first pod mic out of a group of 30 other podcasters so I have a soft spot for him. He will be successful at whatever he does but I had the same issue as a beginner podcaster. I could not take the 10+ daily emails that were not about podcasting. I also paid $150 to appear in The Ultimate Directory of Podcasters with a small picture of my cover art and show description but my downloads never changed and remained at 100 a week w/o paid ads. After hearing about NFTs in the industry I was shocked when I saw what they looked like. I hated to do it but I had to unsubscribe. I thought your story was going to go to a much darker place after the death of tWitch bc I have a strange inkling that it had something to do with BitCoin and the big recent scandal and I know Steve was really big on Crypto. For reference, I'm talking about the time I saw tWitch tell Ellen something to the effect "when I get you to invest in crypto" and she shot back "No thanks!" But I always enjoy your writing. It works on so many levels. :)

A great story of Mr. Bold and his successful pod magazine, I hope someone took his offer and will continue the pod magazine journey.
Thanks for the insight! Very informative.
